Information and Requirements

Art Images, Description and Size

Please submit three to five (3-5) images of your work along with a short description of your artwork (medium, general scale/range of size of your work), the number of pieces you plan to exhibit and any space requirements. This information will be used to assist the Art on the Ave (AOA) Committee in placing you with an appropriate business and exhibit space. Images (with your permission) may also be used in event advertisement and promotional material. Images submitted may be of your artwork, workspace, or some other element of your work.

Media/Networking

The businesses participating in Art on the Ave are providing funds toward event advertising, but we need your help to get the word out. Please consider using your own website and/or social media (i.e. Facebook) accounts to let your followers know that you will be at this event.

Labels/Business Cards

Please come prepared with appropriate labels, business cards and/or other methods for identifying you and your work. Event guests like to know who you are and how they can get in touch with you after the show.

Non-cash Payment for Artwork

It is the artist’s responsibility to arrange methods or acceptance of payment other than cash or personal check.

Patron Interaction

Please come prepared to interact with patrons of the event. Event patrons like to see your talent and experience your individual personality.

Exhibit Space & Special Accommodations

While the AOA Committee will be coordinating the use of an exhibit space on your behalf, you will be responsible for set-up and removal of your space including acquiring and transporting what you need to display your artwork (e.g. tables, easels, shade tents, etc.). Should you need assistance in locating these items for the event please give us at least two (2) weeks advance notice of the event. We will be partnering you with a local business in which you will exhibit your work, so we ask that you let us know about any space requirements you will need to accommodate your works. Generally artists are provided a minimum of a 10’ by 10’ space to exhibit their works. Should you need additional space or other special accommodations please remember to include this in your registration materials.

OUTSIDE ARTIST LOCATIONS:
The AOA committee will not be held responsible for any damage or loss of property, including works of art. All outside spaces/tents are required to be properly secured for wind. Outside Artist Locations will be on asphalt, so plan accordingly. If you do not have your artist space properly secured, you will be required to take it down for safety and security reasons and may be relocated based on available space to another location.

The Art

Art on the Ave is intended to show one-of-a-kind and limited edition/non mass produced visual and culinary arts. If commercial items, not manufactured by you, appear as part of your exhibit, you may be asked to remove them and/or be asked to leave.

Artist Exhibit Fees

A $30 registration fee is required to secure your participation in Art on the Ave ($20 for artists residing in the Sprague Union District boundaries) ($10 for junior artists ages 18 and under at time of event). Lunch and a snack will be provided the day of the event as part of your registration fee. Should an artist fail to attend or cancel their registration within two weeks of the event, registration fees will be forfeited. For those electing to sell artwork at this event, the committee requests that artists consider donating a portion of sales receipts from the event. We suggest 10% of your sales over $300. These donations will ensure that the event is sustainable over the long term.

Sales, Receipts and Washington State Sales Tax

Participating artists are responsible to report applicable sales receipts and tax collected.

Event Attendance

We take your intent to participate in Art on the Ave very seriously: If you submit a registration form for the event, we expect that you are committed to participating in Art on the Ave. We also expect that you will be in attendance at your art exhibit for the duration of the event (12-6 pm). Should an emergency arise that prohibits your participation, we ask that you immediately notify the identified event coordinators to make them aware of any unexpected absence from this event.

We reserves the right to deny requests to participate in future Art on the Ave events based on artist past attendance and conduct.
